CHANGING PERCEPTIONS of logistics

Here at Jordon Freight we are very excited to announce a partnership with Suffolk New College as an official industry partner. This collaboration opens new paths for innovation and education in the logistics industry and is designed to align with the government backed campaign Generation Logistics, where we seek to create more awareness of this fast moving and highly advancing industry.

As an industry leader, we’ve always been committed to nurturing the next generation of logistics professionals. As owners who started out from 16 years old in the industry, bringing young people in and training them is a natural part of our business. Our employment record shows this with many of our current leadership team having started with us in their very early 20s and been with us over 10 years. Our partnership with Suffolk New College now allows us to bring invaluable industry experience directly into the educational sphere, equipping students with essential knowledge for entering the industry. Having previously had great success partnering with Felixstowe School, this new partnership gives an even greater platform for generating awareness of the logistics industry.

The role Jordon will play in this new partnership is actively delivering workshops for Suffolk New College that offer hands-on experience and industry insights to students. The attached infographic from Suffolk New College provides a guideline on the educational approach, emphasising practical skills and in-depth industry knowledge.

Here’s will: ATTRACTING NEW TALENT TO THE INDUSTRY

Fresh from university and newly appointed to our sales team, Will McGlennon recently collaborated with a local recruitment company to present on career opportunities in logistics putting forward a wider piece about preparing for the workplace which included things such as CV best practice and interview challenges.

Will spent much of his time studying at Suffolk New College and said “it’s so weird to be back where I was studying, only now in a professional capacity, telling my story to students who were in my shoes”. His presentation, based on his own experiences, focused on transitioning from school to the workplace and preparing for a successful career. Will’s firsthand experience and recent entry into the professional world offered invaluable perspectives to students considering a career in freight forwarding.
