an early start
This week we sent two of our staff to join others at a BIFA Young Forwarders Network Port of Dover Tour. Will from our sales team and Bailey from the Road Ops team made their way to Dover leaving Ipswich at 5.30am. Travelling down to Dover in the Jordon Truck they arrived just in time for the tour.

After a brief visit to Motis truckstop for lunch, with an all day breakfast no less consumed, the group were then given a close up tour of the Port of Dover control tower which surveys the operational matters of the port.

summary
In closing the day Will commented “events like this are so important for the growth and understanding of people new to the industry. It really helps to put all the pieces together in supply chains and I’m really looking forward to doing another one”.
Jon Swallow, Chief Executive of Jordon and also Governor of The BIFA Young Forwarders Network in East Anglia added “We are very greatful to The British International Freight Association through the YFN to provide learning opportunities for people new to the industry. These tours weren’t available in my time and get such good feedback from attendees. Some employers however seem hesitant to release staff for these rare occasions, even asking them to take holiday. I encourage all employers to think of the benefit of bringing the supply chain to life for young staff through these days and also being part of the YFN community. Times have changed and experiences are far more valued, so let’s use these free opportunities for everyones benefit”.
The BIFA Young Forwarders Network is represented nationally and is designed to bring those new to the industry together to learn and share knowledge.
